Everyone’s Doing Social Media-Now What?

by SalvationSystem

Overwhelmed by the Internet Everyones Doing Social Media Now What?

To get ahead in this competitive world, you must try and be different. Weather it be by finding a new ‘killer’ product or experimenting with some new marketing strategy, you just have to be different! With the way social media is doing today, having a Facebook page, Tweeting and all isn’t anything special. Everyone else is doing it including your competitors so what now?

This is what businesses ought to ask themselves. Once you’ve gotten onto the social media bandwagon, you have to make sure that you stay on board. With the way things currently are-what does this mean? You’ve got yourself an account in all the top social media sites, you tweet a couple of times a day, you interact, you post valuable content but the point is-everybody else does it!

How do you stand out in this social media mad world? Should you now start to find more ways to get engaged like maybe be more frequent in your tweets or be more updated in your news feeds? Just what do you have to do to get up on top? Maybe it’s all about keeping updated to any news in the social media world. Being the first at everything that comes up. Is that what will get you ahead of your competitors?

The dilemma is this: how far will you have to go in this social media marketing for you to say ‘you’re on top’? In fact, will there ever be an end to how much time and money you put into your marketing?

Does it suggest success in social media is monitoring activity 24/7 so any inquiries or potential opportunities can be jumped on? Does it mean having a dedicated team to create compelling videos, blog posts, tweets, etc.? If so, does that mean whoever invests the most wins?

With the increased focus on social media marketing, you may ask if you still should put some effort into traditional marketing methods. How much focus should you put into each of these marketing strategies for you to have the best results?

It really depends. On what exactly? On your objectives, on your kind of business and on how much you can afford. If your business is more of a retail one for example, advertising your products online would be a great marketing tool. On the other hand, imagine you have some service you provide for a particular area, broadcasting that to the whole world really won’t be practical.

Is there place for traditional marketing methods? There definitely is. Before you really decide where to direct your marketing budget, you must be very familiar with your objective. Here are some don’ts when it comes to marketing your business:

  • Don’t do ‘send to many’ vibes. Never use social media as you would your phone and text a single message to a whole group of friends. You won’t get much response from this. Always make sure it’s personalized.
  • Don’t direct your attention to so many sites and leave it at that. You should sign up on sites that you know will be good for your business. Different social media sites are good for particular kinds of businesses.
  • Don’t be rigid. You have to be extra flexible when it comes to the methods you choose for your marketing. Going with change is the only way to be successful. Always be willing to learn.

When you see chance to, also make room for traditional marketing which will also be what you  need to combine all your marketing efforts.  Traditional and social marketing should go hand in hand if you are to have success.

Wanna Know A Social Media Marketing Secret?

by SalvationSystem

facebook emoticons 300x224 Wanna Know A Social Media Marketing Secret?

Have you ever wondered just what makes people ‘like’ or ‘share’ stuff? It’s definitely not random so just why do people decide to ‘like’ one thing and not the other? The answer is really interesting.

In a nutshell, this is what was discovered in a recent research done on the matter:

If something results in higher physiological “arousal” because of action or emotional stimulus, then you’re much more likely to share it—it’s actually built into our nervous system, working unconsciously.

This takes social media marketing to a totally different level! The way you word whatever you are trying to sell or promote matters to the nth degree. So how exactly can you get people ‘aroused’ so that they ‘like’ or ‘tweet’ what you share?

You have to get them EMOTIONALLY involved somehow. It may be by making them laugh, getting them angry(in a good way), or some other ‘positive’ emotion. Do this and they’ll ‘retweet’ and ‘share’ automatically even without really liking your product.

The thing to avoid here is those ‘negative’ emotions. You get them sad, depressed or neutral and you won’t have such good results.  It really does make sense when you think about it:

What sites, links or pictures are you likely to tell your friends about? Yes, those that made you laugh out loud, or were somehow ‘contraversial’ in nature.

You don’t ‘feel’ anything, you don’t share it-it’s as simple as that. So start thinking how to get people engaged on an emotional level now!

Credit:thepulsemagazine

If it worked for them, It should work for me“. Is that your idea when it comes to using Social Media in marketing your business?

The truth is, this is absolutely FALSE.

There are so many factors that may affect the efficacy of social networking on your company. One of the obvious things to consider is the kind of business you have. True, you can advertise for anything on these sites but if your target audience isn’t likely to even have profiles on these accounts, it would really be useless trying to get your business in these networks.

How about if you know your kind of business should be easily marketed on these sites but you still fail. According to a survey conducted by emarketer.com, there are heavier reasons  behind your business’ failure in these sites.

The effectiveness of using social networking to market your business will depend on your location. Some countries don’t really have a high percentage of Social media users. This may be because of a reserved culture or simply because the popular social sites aren’t popular there. Here is what the survey revealed. (see chart below)

47% of businesses successfully used social networks for customer acquisition in 2011, a 7 percentage point increase over 2010. The US followed closely behind the average, at 43%.

You really shouldn’t expect much success if your country isn’t one of those ‘on top’ of the social media users. Like the chat shows though, generally speaking, businesses are increasing their use of social media in inceasing their revenue worldwide.

How are businesses that are not using social network for their marketing doing though? The chart below shows the facts
